Non-Genuine Short-Block Rebuild Kit for Stihl 029, December 1, 2022 Reviewer: Jeramy Shope from Russellville, TN United States   New Engine for my Stihl MS290!!!! WHOO HOO! Very fash shipping! Poor Customer Service October 21, 2022 Reviewer: Anonymous Person from MORGANTOWN, IN United States   Purchased new engine to rebuild my Stihl 029. First engine lasted about 4 tanks of fuel and started to make a clanking sound. I contacted HL Supply and they sent out a replacement. I tore down the saw again and rebuilt the engine yet again. This one lasted about 8 tanks of fuel. Contacted HL Supply and sent a picture of the heavily scored piston. Guess I am SOL. I will purchase another engine from a quality supplier. Do yourself a favor and buy elsewhere. These folks are selling an inferior product. Was this review helpful to you?

MS 290 Short Block September 1, 2018 Reviewer: Tom Searight from East Northport, NY United States   Just got done running the saw for the first time and dropped a few trees. Saw ran fine and went together easily. Only small issue was the 4 main case bolts were not the same thread size as the STIHL bolts. Had to run to ACE hardware to get 4 new Allen head 6mm bolts. The ground wire bolt hole from the coil to the block was also different. Not a big deal at all. Would definitely buy this kit again,  great value and arrived very quickly.
