⚠️ Maintenance Alert:
An air leak through a worn ignition-side seal is often difficult to spot because it is hidden behind the flywheel. Symptoms include a "hanging idle" (where the saw stays at high RPM after letting off the throttle) or a saw that runs perfectly when cold but dies when hot.
🛠️ Mechanic's Tip:
Because this 15x22x4mm seal is smaller than the clutch-side seal, it is often subject to different wear patterns. On high-hour saws like the MS 660 or MS 462, it is best practice to replace both the ignition and clutch side seals simultaneously to ensure a complete and reliable top-end or bottom-end overhaul.
