Short block conversion kit for my ms290 to a ms390 November 19, 2025 Reviewer: Jack Ivy from Dayton, TX United States   I could not get the saw to run with new parts, I ended up getting a new piston and cylinder from Amazon and got the saw going. I could not see any visible damage to the piston or cylinder. The first thing the did when I contacted HLS, was sent me the criteria for a return which stated is had to be new and in the packaging that it came in. Can't tell it has faults until you install it. Not straight forward January 17, 2024 Reviewer: Roger Lanier from Lenore, ID United States   I probably would not buy this motor again. Every hole in the block and pan has to be tapped to a common size. They are all fine thread of some sort. Obviously Chinese and not clean. I used the original pan. Ms290 to Ms390 July 8, 2023 Reviewer: Greg from Indianapolis, Indiana   What a nice little package. My Ms290 is probably 20 plus years old sure I could just go buy a new one but this saw just cuts really well. I have to say first day using this new engine it started on the first pull and ran well for the first time use I hope it lasts for a couple more years. Thanks James  !
