Oregon Power Mate® Rim Sprocket System - 3/8" x 7 Tooth (Stihl)
The Oregon 38470XSF is a high-performance two-piece drive system designed for professional Stihl chainsaws. By utilizing a free-floating rim on a splined drum, the chain is able to self-align with the guide bar groove. This floating action results in smoother cutting, reduced vibration, and significantly extended chain life compared to standard one-piece spur sprockets.
Cold-Forged Strength
Manufactured using Oregon’s specialized cold-forged process, the drum is engineered for extreme durability under heavy professional use. The modular design is cost-effective; because the rim is the only component that makes contact with the chain drive links, it can be replaced multiple times before the drum unit itself requires replacement.

This sprocket system is designed exclusively for 3/8" pitch setups. Ensure that your saw chain and the nose of your guide bar are both rated for 3/8" pitch before operation to prevent immediate damage to your equipment.

The 38470XSF is the standard professional upgrade for mid-to-large Stihl saws like the MS 362 and MS 460. To maximize the life of your drive system, replace the rim every three chains. Always inspect the needle bearing (H101612) for flat spots or lack of lubrication whenever the drum is removed. Lubricate with high-quality bearing grease during every rim change for the smoothest performance.
