Preserving Stihl's M-Tronic® Compensation Signal
Unlike generic "bolt-on" aftermarket filters that simply act as basic adapters, the MaxFlow 462 kit is engineered with a custom intake throat compatible with the
M-Tronic® auto-tune system. The MS 462 intake throat is a vital component of the carburetor's compensating pressure-reference system. Other filter designs alter or remove this path, feeding incomplete pressure data to the microprocessor and causing the saw to fuel incorrectly under load. MaxFlow preserves this system-level pressure-compensation relationship across the cover, filter, cage, and throat—allowing M-Tronic to accurately meter fuel and maintain maximum power from the first cut to the last.

Our kit comes supplied exclusively with two distinct, full-depth, one-piece foam elements featuring sealed endwalls to prevent particle bypass:
- Green 60 PPI Element (High-Flow / General-Use): Engineered for everyday commercial cutting, logging, and thinning. This media maximizes raw airflow while providing a deep dust-loading matrix throughout its entire thickness.
- White 80 PPI Element (Severe-Service): A tighter, high-density foam element designed explicitly for ultra-fine dust environments, wildfire operations, dry duff, and punishing forestry conditions. Capable of capturing extreme fines without choking engine vacuum.

Because MaxFlow uses a true vertical-scale sealing architecture to deliver uncompromised airflow, installation requires a simple, one-time trim modification of the factory plastic shroud to accommodate the new sealing flange geometry.
