A 32" bar is often the "sweet spot" for saws like the MS 462 or MS 500i. To maximize the life of the solid steel rails, rotate the bar every time you sharpen the chain. This ensures even wear on both the top and bottom rails, preventing the "leaning" cuts that occur when one rail wears down faster than the other.
